According to the Argentine association of vehicles producers, ADEFA, Argentina produced 37,521 units (cars and light commercial vehicles) during April, against 41,716 units in March, a decline of more than 10 percent.
Exports increased by 0.9 percent to 26,887 units, while domestic sales declined by 13.2 percent to 35,976 units, of which only 9,748 units were produced in Argentina, reflecting the export-oriented model of the auto industry in the country.
When compared with April 2025, production in April 2026 declined by 17.5 percent, exports increased by 18.8 percent and domestic sales slumped by 31.6 percent.
According to Rodrigo Pérez Graziano, president of ADEFA, “The sector is in the midst of a transition, and the data from the first four months of 2026 reflect this,” he said. “Activity during April showed a dynamic where production continues to face structural challenges.”
He added that, in addition to the impact of holidays, the year-on-year decline is due to the adjustment process at the assembly plants following the replacement of industrial offerings (new projects) and the direct impact of the discontinuation of some models.
