French steel pipe producer Vallourec has announced that it will supply approximately 4,000 mt of OCTG for German communal company Stadtwerke München for the Munich City Geothermal Heating project.

Vallourec stated that, for this new geothermal plant, six deviated wells - with a depth of around 3,000 meters and a total length up to 4,400 meters - will be drilled from a unique drilling site in the centre of Munich. The project will make an important contribution towards the target of Stadwerke München (SWM), the local utility and developer, to supply Munich's entire district heating requirements from geothermal energy by 2040.
