Vale’s iron ore output up 18.1 percent in Q2 from Q1

Brazil-based miner Vale has announced its operational results for the second quarter of the current year, reporting iron ore production of 96.75 million mt, rising by 18.1 percent compared to the first quarter. In the second quarter, Vale’s pellet production totaled 12.83 million mt, up slightly by 0.5 percent compared to the previous quarter.

In the second quarter this year, Vale's nickel production increased by 13 percent quarter on quarter to 66,200 mt.

Meanwhile, in the given quarter, Vale’s coal production amounted to 2.87 million mt, increasing by 18.1 percent compared to the first quarter. Production of metallurgical coal from Vale's Mozambique mine amounted to 1.56 million mt, 11.3 percent higher than the previous quarter.
