Brazilian miner and iron ore producer Vale resumed coal and pelletizing activities at its Tubarao complex, in Vitoria city, in the state of Espirito Santo, following the provisional shutdown of the company’s wastewater treatment facility, the company said on Wednesday.

Vale said it reached an agreement with the city to resume wastewater treatment activities, which in turn would allow it to resume operations at its pelletizing units No. 1, 2, 3 and 4, as well as coal services at the complex. Under the terms of the deal, Vale will make anticipated investments to improve the complex’s wastewater treatment.

The city shut down operations at Vale’s pelletizing plants as well as coal activities on February 7, 2019. The halt was a result of a suspension in the company’s wastewater treatment activities.
