The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Monday that US raw steel production decreased 0.6 percent last week (ended February 25) compared to the previous week.
Total raw steel production in the United States amounted to 1,930,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 0.6 percent decrease from the 1,942,000 nt produced in the previous week, and an 8.4 percent increase from the 1,780,000 nt produced in the same week of last year.
The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 78.1 percent in the week ending February 25, compared to 78.6 percent in the previous week and 75.4 percent in the same week of last year.
