The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Monday that US raw steel production rose last week (ended November 12) with output climbing 2.6 percent from the previous week. In the prior week (ended November 5), US raw steel production had dropped 0.4 percent compared to the week before.
Total raw steel production in the United States amounted to 1,836,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 2.6 percent increase from the 1,789,000 nt produced in the previous week, and an 11.2 percent increase from the 1,651,000 nt produced in the same week of last year.
The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 74.1 percent in the week ending November 12, compared to the 72.2 percent in the previous week and 68.3 percent in the same week of last year.
