US tin plate imports up 43.8 percent in March

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of tin plate totaled 91,824 mt in March 2023, up 43.8 percent from February and up 9.8 percent from March 2022 levels. By value, tin plate imports totaled $142.3 million in March 2023, compared to $114.9 million in February and $146.6 million in March 2022.

The US imported the most tin plate from Germany in March, with 28,021 mt, compared to 11,568 mt in February and 18,942 mt in March 2022. Other top sources of imported tin plate in March include China, with 20,826 mt; Canada, with 16,264 mt; Taiwan, 15,529 mt; and Netherlands, with 6,353 mt.
