US Steel to establish HDG facility in Slovakia

United States Steel Corporation (US Steel) announced plans to invest $160 million in a new hot dip galvanizing (HDG) facility at the company's US Steel Kosice (USSK) plant in Slovakia. The HDG facility, which will have an annual capacity of 350'000 tons, will serve the automotive and construction sectors in Central Europe. Construction will start this year, and the facility is scheduled to be operational by early 2007.
