US steel mill shipments up in December

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Tuesday that for the month of December 2014, US steel mills shipped 7,978,310 net tons, a 4.5 percent increase from the 7,638,086 net tons shipped in the previous month, November 2014, and a 4.5 percent increase from the 7,632,629 net tons shipped in December 2013.  Full year shipments in 2014 are 98,248,666 net tons, a 3.0 percent increase vs. 2013 full year shipments of 95,423,417

A comparison of December shipments to the previous month of November shows the following changes:  hot rolled sheets, up 7.0 percent, hot dipped galvanized sheets, up 5.0 percent and cold rolled sheets, up 1.0 percent.
