US steel exports decline 1.8 percent in September

According to the latest data from the US Department of Commerce, US steel exports totaled 736,256 mt in September, a 1.8 percent drop from August’s total of 749,762 mt. In September 2014, the US exported 940,329 mt.

The top exported products in September were HDG sheets and strip, with 101,384 mt; cut-length plate, with 92,883 mt; cold rolled sheets, with 66,999 mt; hot rolled sheets, with 56,265 mt; and heavy structural shapes, with 31,331 mt.

The top destinations for exported US steel in September were Canada, with 356,819 mt; Mexico, with 299,394 mt; India, with 8,823 mt; China, with 6,310 mt; and Belgium, with 6,132 mt.
