US Steel’s Lorain Tubular Operations is the latest company facility to receive layoff notices, with up to 614 temporary cuts announced Monday.

Courtney Boone, a US Steel spokeswoman, blamed low gas prices as a “large contributing factor” and even though gas and oil prices are on the rise, the company refrained from providing an estimate as when workers will be recalled. The facility already laid off 108 workers last year.

Another factor Boone said was part of the decision was foreign currency manipulation and import dumping.
