US raw steel production up 0.7 percent week on week

According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on January 6, 2018, US domestic raw steel production was 1,649,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 70.7 percent.

Production for the week ending January 6, 2018 is up 0.7 percent from the previous week ending December 30, 2017 when production was 1,637,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 70.2 percent.

Production was 1,736,000 net tons in the week ending January 6, 2017 while the capability utilization then was 74.5 percent. The current week production represents a five percent decrease from the same period in the previous year.
