US plates in coil imports down 25.7 percent in November

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of plates in coil totaled 60,726 mt in November 2019, down 25.7 percent from October and down 44.7 percent from November 2018 levels. By value, plates in coil imports totaled $36.7 million in November 2019, compared to $52.2 million in the previous month and $85.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most plates in coil from Canada in November, with 41,828 mt, compared to 63,618 mt in October and 56,538 mt in November 2018. Other top sources of imported plates in coil in November include Netherlands, with 9,646 mt; Korea, with 3,295 mt; Sweden, with 2,308 mt; and China, with 1,349 mt.
