According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of plates in coil totaled 35,930 mt in August 2023, down 6.9 percent from July and up 15.9 percent from August 2022. By value, plates in coil exports totaled $39.1 million in August, compared to $43.4 million in the previous month and $44.8 million the same month last year.
The US shipped the most plates in coil to Mexico in August with 21,866 mt, compared to 22,079 mt in July and 32,449 mt in August 2022. Other top destinations included Canada, with 13,360 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US plates in coil exports in August.
