US mechanical tubing imports up 14.6 percent in June

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of mechanical tubing totaled 45,747 mt in June 2019, up 14.6 percent from May and up 7.8 percent from June 2018 levels. By value, mechanical tubing imports totaled $65.2 million in June 2019, compared to $60.1 million in the previous month and $66.5 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most mechanical tubing from Mexico in June, with 18,385 mt, compared to 11,296 mt in May and 6,706 mt in June 2018. Other top sources of imported mechanical tubing in June include Canada, with 7,267 mt; Germany, with 3,962 mt; China, with 2,429 mt; and Italy, with 1,759 mt.
