US mechanical tubing imports down 20.1 percent in September

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of mechanical tubing totaled 43,942 mt in September 2023, down 20.1 percent from August and down 9.9 percent from September 2022 levels. By value, mechanical tubing imports totaled $76.5 million in September 2023, compared to $103.9 million in August and $95.7 million in September 2022.

The US imported the most mechanical tubing from Mexico in September, with 17,265 mt, compared to 23,299 mt in August and 19,821 in September 2022. Other top sources of imported mechanical tubing in September include Canada, with 8,018 mt; China, with 4,669 mt; Germany, with 4,277 mt; and India, with 3,824 mt.
