US iron ore production in June this year amounted to 4.51 million mt, increasing by 9.5 percent compared to May and up by 11.3 percent year on year, according to figures from the Mineral Industry Survey released by the US Geological Survey (USGS). Meanwhile, US iron ore export shipments in June this year totaled 5.37 million mt, decreasing by 0.9 percent compared to the previous month and up by 4.9 percent compared to June 2017.
In the January-June period of this year, US iron ore production totaled 24 million mt, rising by 7.6 percent compared to the same period of 2017, while US iron ore export shipments amounted to 18 million mt, up by 3.4 percent year on year.
