US iron ore output down 6.4 percent in April from March

US iron ore production in April this year amounted to 3.81 million mt, decreasing by 6.4 percent compared to March and down 5.2 percent year on year, according to figures from the Mineral Industry Survey released by the US Geological Survey (USGS). Meanwhile, US iron ore export shipments in April this year totaled 4.18 million mt, increasing by 207.3 percent compared to the previous month and down 1.6 percent compared to April 2017.

In the January-April period of this year, US iron ore production totaled 15.4 million mt, rising by 6.9 percent compared to the same period of 2017, while US iron ore export shipments amounted to 7.23 million mt, down 3.7 percent year on year.
