US iron ore output down 1.7 percent in November from October

US iron ore production in November last year amounted to 3.52 million mt, decreasing by 1.7 percent compared to October and down 4.9 percent year on year, according to figures from the Mineral Industry Survey released by the US Geological Survey (USGS). Meanwhile, US iron ore export shipments in November last year totaled 4.2 million mt, increasing by 3.7 percent compared to the previous month and up 30 percent compared to November 2015. 
 
In the first 11 months of last year, US iron ore production totaled 36.4 million mt, falling by 8.8 percent compared to the January-November period of 2015, while US iron ore export shipments amounted to 37.4 million mt, remaining stable year on year.
