US hot rolled bar exports up 2.3 percent in February

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled bar totaled 23,816 mt in February 2019, up 2.3 percent from January but down 34.8 percent from February 2018 levels. By value, hot rolled bar exports totaled $29.9 million in February, compared to $29.2 million in the previous month and $31.3 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most hot rolled bar to Mexico in February with 14,178 mt, compared to 12,714 mt in January and 19,110 mt in February 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 8,228 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US export hot rolled bar in February.
