The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced the preliminary result of its administrative review of the antidumping (AD) order against cut-to-length (CTL) carbon-quality steel plate from South Korea. The review covers one producer/exporter -- Dongkuk Steel Mill Co. Ltd. -- for the period of February 1, 2007 through January 31, 2008.

The DOC has preliminarily calculated a weighted-average dumping margin of 9.27 percent for Dongkuk. This compares with the current dumping duty deposit rate of 1.97 percent. The current dumping duty deposit rate will remain in effect until the DOC completes the review and issues its final result, which is expected to occur in April 2009.

There is also a countervailing (CVD) duty order against CTL plate from South Korea, with a current CVD deposit rate of 0 percent for Dongkuk.
