The US Department of Commerce (US DOC) has announced an extension of the deadline for issuing the preliminary results of its antidumping (AD) duty administrative review concerning stainless steel bar from Brazil.

At the request of interested parties, the DOC, on March 31, 2008, had initiated an administrative review of the AD duty order on certain stainless steel bar from Brazil for the period February 1, 2007, through January 31, 2008. As per schedule, the preliminary results of this administrative review are currently due no later than October 31, 2008; however, the DOC has determined that it is not practicable to complete the preliminary results of this review by the current deadline of October 31, 2008, for several reasons such as the time required to analyze the responses submitted by the parties.

Therefore, the DOC has decided to extend the time period for issuing the preliminary results of this review by 90 days until January 29, 2009.
