Brazil’s ministry of industry, foreign trade and services, MDIC, commenced a review over existing antidumping (AD) duties imposed on imported flat austenitic stainless steel products several countries, including Germany, South Korea, Finland, Taiwan and Vietnam.

The products subject to the review fall under the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) 304, 304L and 304H grades, including the AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel grade, and the Mercosur HTS codes 7219.32.00, 7219.33.00, 7219.34.00, 7219.35.00 and 7220.20.90.

Brazil imposed on October 2013 five-year duties ranging from $568.27/mt to Vietnamese exporters to $1,030.20/mt tariffs for Finnish exporters.

The review follows a request of local producer Aperam Inox South America, filed on April this year. MDIC said the analysis review started immediately as the notice was published on October 3 in the country’s official gazette. MDIC indicated there is evidence Brazil’s domestic industry could be harmed if the AD duties are not renewed.
