US cut-length plate imports down 0.7 percent in April

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cut-length plate totaled 27,771 mt in April 2020, down 0.7 percent from March and down 51.5 percent from April 2019 levels. By value cut-length plate imports totaled $23.4 million in April 2020, compared to $21.6 million in the previous month and $50.1 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most cut-length plate from Canada in April, with 12,285 mt, compared to 13,384 mt in March and 9,008 mt in April 2019. Other top sources of imported cut-length plate in April include Korea, with 8,292 mt; Finland, with 2,413 mt; and Belgium, with 2,365 mt.
