According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cut-length plate totaled 78,504 mt in May 2018, up 0.1 percent from April but down 14.1 percent from May 2017 levels. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $85.8 million in May, compared to $82.1 million in the previous month and $88.7 million the same month last year.
The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Canada in May with 34,080 mt, compared to 41,083 mt in April and 52,742 mt in May 2017. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 35,059 mt; China, with 2,628 mt; Brazil, with 1,543 mt; and Chile, with 1,000 mt.
