US cut-length plate imports up 56.6 percent in March

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cut-length plate totaled 56,395 mt in March 2023, up 56.6 percent from February and up 39.2 percent from March 2022 levels. By value, cut-length plate imports totaled $78.9 million in March 2023, compared to $53.6 million in February and $64.3 million in March 2022.

The US imported the most cut-length plate from Canada in March, with 21,882 mt, compared to 16,091 mt in February and 16,909 mt in March 2022. Other top sources of imported cut-length plate in March include South Korea, with 21,359 mt; Mexico, with 2,621 mt; Australia, with 1,802 mt; and Austria, with 1,699 mt.
