US cut-length plate imports down 19.9 percent in February

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cut-length plate totaled 36,013 mt in February 2023, down 19.9 percent from January and down 0.3 percent from February 2022 levels. By value, cut-length plate imports totaled $53.6 million in February 2023, compared to $71.6 million in January and $57.9 million in February 2022.

The US imported the most cut-length plate from Canada in February, with 16,091 mt, compared to 20,414 mt in January and 12,963 mt in February 2022. Other top sources of imported cut-length plate in February include South Korea, with 7,487 mt; Japan, with 5,244 mt; France, with 2,395 mt; and Mexico, with 1,983 mt.
