US cut-length plate exports up 12.7 percent in March

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cut-length plate totaled 80,362 mt in March 2018, up 12.7 percent from February but down 22.1 percent from March 2017 levels. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $82.5 million in March, compared to $67.8 million in the previous month and $95.8 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Canada in March with 39,839 mt, compared to 34,509 mt in February and 46,041 mt in March 2017. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 33,982 mt; and China, with 1,455 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US cut-length plate exports in March.
