US CRC imports up 11.1 percent in August

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 112,730 mt in August 2019, up 11.1 percent from July but down 8.9 percent from August 2018 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $88.4 million in August 2019, compared to $79.9 million in the previous month and $109.3 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most CRC from Canada in August, with 31,681 mt, compared to 30,960 mt in July and 29,274 mt in August 2018. Other top sources of imported CRC in August include Australia, with 26,094 mt; Mexico, with 13,320 mt; Vietnam, with 12,139 mt; and Korea, with 7,427 mt.
