US automakers report higher sales in November

In November, the US' three major domestic automakers reported higher auto sales. The Chrysler Group said that US sales in November totaled 122, 565 units, a 14 percent increase compared with sales in November 2011 (107,172 units), and the group's best November sales since 2007. November 2012 also marked Chrysler's 32nd consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains.

General Motors also reported its highest November sales since 2007, with deliveries up 2 percent versus a year ago to 186,505 vehicles. Year-over-year sales to retail customers were little changed from November 2011 while sales to fleet customers were up 16 percent.

November also brought growth throughout Ford's product portfolio in the US, with car sales up 15 percent, utilities up 2 percent and trucks up 4 percent. Total US sales were 177,673 units in November, up 6 percent from a year ago as retail sales rose 12 percent year-on-year. Ford also announced 2013 Q1 vehicle production of 750,000 units, up 11 percent from last year.
