US auto sales continue to rise in April

All three major US automakers reported improved automotive sales over the same period a year ago in April.

Auburn Hills, Michigan-based Chrysler Group LLC reported US sales of 117,225 units in April-up 22 percent compared with 95,703 units sold in April 2010. April also marks the 13th consecutive month of year-over-year gains for the automaker.

Detroit, Michigan-based General Motors Co. and Dearborn, Michigan-based Ford Motor Company also saw strong sales in April. Unit sales amounted to 232,538 units in April for General Motors-up 27 percent over April 2010, and Ford sales increased 16 percent year-on-year to 189,778 units in April.
