The US land rig count was down 0.42 percent this week, totaling 1,429 rigs; however, this represented an annualized increase of 58.08 percent. The offshore rig count was down 5.36 percent this week, totaling 53 total rigs, also reflecting an increase from last year of 3.92 percent.
The rig count drilling for oil was up 1.58 percent this week, totaling 514 total rigs, representing an annualized increase of 154.46 percent. The rig count drilling for gas was down 1.75 percent this week, to 956 total rigs running, representing an annualized increase of 28.84 percent.
In Canada, the rotary land rig count was unchanged this week at 109 rigs. The Canadian offshore rig count was down 1 rig from last week, now totaling 1 rig, an annualized decrease of 50.00 percent
The Canadian rig count drilling for oil was unchanged this week at 31 rigs, and the Canadian rig count drilling for gas also remained the same from last week, totaling 79 rigs, an annualized increase of 83.72 percent.
