US rig count increases while Canadian decreases - week 14, 2026

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending on April 2, 2026, the US rotary rig count increased by five rigs week on week to 548.

The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by three to 130, while number of rigs drilling for oil increased by two to 411. The overall US rig count is down by 42 rigs in the year-on-year comparison.

 

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 11 to 142 rigs in the week ending April 2. The Canadian rig count decreased by 11 compared to the same reporting period in the previous year.
