Ural Steel commissions new pig iron casting machine

Russian metallurgical company Metalloinvest Holding has announced that its integrated iron and steel plant Ural Steel has commissioned its new pig iron casting machine No. 5 at its blast furnace shop. The commissioning of the new unit will increase annual pig iron production capacity by 500,000 mt.

Metalloinvest stated that the construction of the new pig iron casting machine was part of its program to modernize production at Ural Steel in response to changing demand. The company has spent approximately RUB 2 billion ($30.24 million) on this program in the current year. The total investment in the construction of the pig iron casting machine amounted to RUB 310 million ($4.68 million).
