Pittsburg, California-based pipe manufacturer United Spiral Pipe has filed an official notice with the California state labor department about potentially laying off 83 employees out of about 100 currently employed. The company has not made a definitive decision about the cuts.

In December of last year, the company made a similar move when it announced that it was considering laying off workers but did not go through with the layoffs. However, employee hours were cut from a 40-hour work week to a 32-hour work week.
