Ukraine’s coking coal imports up nine percent in Q1

According to the data issued by the Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in Q1 this year Ukraine's imports of coking coal went up by about nine percent year on year to 2.4 million mt, with about 900,000 mt being imported in March.
 
Meanwhile, in the first quarter of this year Ukraine's coke and chemical plants received about 4.7 million mt of domestic origin coking coal, four percent less than in the same period last year.
 
On the other hand, in Q1 Ukraine's coke and chemical plants supplied 3.737 million mt of coke to domestic steelmakers, up one percent year on year. Ukraine's coke imports in Q1 decreased significantly by 78 percent year on year to 26,000 mt.
