The Ukrainian steelmaker
Zaporizhstal has announced a profit of UAH 156.1 million (about $19.56 million) for 2010, up from a loss of UAH 290.5 million ($36.43 million) in 2009.
In 2010,
Zaporizhstal produced 3.449 million mt of
crude steel and 2.763 million mt of
pig iron, while its shipments of rolled steel products amounted to 2.855 million mt. In 2010,
Zaporizhstal's
pig iron output increased by 31,000 mt (1.1 percent) year on year, its
crude steel output rose by 171,700 mt (5.2 percent) from the previous year, while its rolled steel products output climbed up by 105,600 mt (3.8 percent) year on year.
Zaporizhstal's rolled steel products shipments in the Ukrainian domestic market amounted to 38.8 percent of its overall deliveries, while the remaining 61.2 percent were exported to 61 countries through the commercial seaports Ilyichevsk, Odessa, Izmail, Nikolaev, Mariupol, Sevastopol, as well as over the land borders of
Ukraine.
Zaporizhstal's steel products sales in 2010 increased by 50.4 percent year on year to UAH 12.617 billion ($1.582 billion), mainly due to the growth in sales volumes and prices.
In 2010,
Zaporizhstal invested UAH 593.9 million ($74.47 million) in capital repairs, reconstruction, modernization and capital construction of its
production facilities.
