In the first nine months of the current year, Ukraine's coal mining output decreased by 13 percent year on year to 53.414 million mt, according to Ukraine's Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry.
In the meantime, in the first nine months Ukrainian state-owned mines produced 15.354 million mt, down 12.3 percent year on year.

In September alone, Ukraine's coal mining production amounted to 3.401 million mt, compared to 6.7 million mt in September 2013. The reason for this sharp decrease was the halting of the operations of 80 percent of tmines in the Donbas region because of constant fighting in the area.
