According to preliminary data, in the first nine months of the current year Ukraine registered a 10.4 percent increase year on year in its finished steel product output to 21.54 million mt and an 11 percent rise in its crude steel output to 24.1 million mt.
In January-September this year, Ukraine saw an 8.2 percent increase in its pig iron production to about 20.3 million mt and a 7.2 percent growth in its coke output to 13.7 million mt, both compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, during the period in question the country's production of steel pipes went up by one percent year on year to 1.236 million mt.
In its iron ore segment, in January-September this year Ukraine mined 57.97 million mt of iron ore - up about 24 percent year on year. Its iron ore concentrate production increased by 23 percent to about 47.98 million mt, its agglomerate production went up by 17.4 percent to 29.22 million mt, while its pellet production rose by 14 percent to 16.75 million mt, all compared to the data for January-September 2009.
