According to preliminary data, in the first ten months of the current year Ukraine registered a nine percent increase year on year in its finished steel product output to 24.03 million mt and a 10 percent rise in its crude steel output to 26.882 million mt.
In January-October this year, Ukraine saw a 7.5 percent increase in its pig iron production to 22.605 million mt and a seven percent growth in its coke output to 15.306 million mt, both compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, during the period in question, the country's production of steel pipes went up by three percent year on year to 1.395 million mt, while its output of hardware increased by 15 percent year on year to 220,200 mt.
In its iron ore segment, in January-October this year Ukraine mined 64.35 million mt of iron ore - up 21.5 percent year on year. Its iron ore concentrate production increased by 20.5 percent to about 53.23 million mt, its agglomerate production went up by 13.5 percent to 32.537 million mt, while its pellet production rose by 13 percent to 18.742 million mt, all compared to the data for January-October 2009.
