Ukraine issues January 2011 production results

According to preliminary data, in January 2011 Ukraine registered a 9.9 percent increase year on year in its finished steel product output to 2.577 million mt and a 4.8 percent rise in its crude steel output to 2.864 million mt.
 
In the first month of 2011, Ukraine saw a three percent increase in its pig iron production to 2.41 million mt and 9.7 percent growth in its coke output to 1.668 million mt, both compared to January 2010. Meanwhile, during the month in question, Ukraine's production of steel pipes went up by 58 percent year on year to 172,300 million mt.
 
In its iron ore segment, in January 2011 Ukraine mined 6.433 million mt of iron ore - down two percent year on year. Its iron ore concentrate production slightly decreased by 0.5 percent to 5.36 million mt, its pellet production went down by 3.3 percent to 1.8 million mt, while its agglomerate production rose by 6.6 percent to 3.477 million mt, all compared to January 2010.
