The government of the Italian region of Tuscany announced on April 27 that it will provide €1.5 million in funds to port authorities at Piombino. The money will be used to design and create infrastructures to link Piombino port to the local pipe welding subsidiary of Tenaris (Tehint Group).

Tenaris and the Tuscan regional authorities had inked a memorandum of understanding in May 2010, due to the forecast closure of the mill, stating that the region would provide economic support to the company.
