According to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), in the first 10 months of the current year motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 621,843 units, falling by 12.4 percent as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In October alone, Turkey's motor vehicle sales saw a decrease of 14.3 percent month on month and were down 13.7 percent compared to the same month of 2011, totaling 62,699 units.
In the first 10 months of this year, Turkey's passenger car sales amounted to 423,057 units, falling by eight percent year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 596,247 units, while its passenger car exports amounted to 337,619 units, falling by 9.9 percent and 8.9 percent respectively, compared to the same period last year. The revenue for total motor vehicle and component exports in the January-October period amounted to $15.9 billion, falling 6.8 percent, while the revenue of passenger car exports totaled $4.95 billion, falling by 9.7 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
In the first 10 months of 2012, Turkey's passenger car imports fell by 3.2 percent year on year, totaling 307,135 units. In the given period, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 387,271 units, falling by 7.8 percent year on year.
