According to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), in the first nine months of the current year motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 558,893 units, falling by 12.2 percent as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In September alone, Turkey's motor vehicle sales saw an increase of 20.5 percent month on month and were up 15.2 percent compared to the same month of 2011, totaling 73.305 units.
In the first nine months of this year, Turkey's passenger car sales amounted to 379.717 units, falling by 7.9 percent year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 547.440 units, while its passenger car exports amounted to 300,327 units, both falling by nine percent compared to the same period last year. The revenue for total motor vehicle and component exports in the January-September period amounted to $14.25 billion, falling seven percent, while the revenue of passenger car exports totaled $4.4 billion, falling by nine percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
In the first nine months of 2012, Turkey's passenger car imports fell by 2.7 percent year on year, totaling 276,041 units. In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle imports totaled 348,298 units, falling by 7.6 percent year on year.
