Turkish motor vehicle output up 12.9 percent in Feb over Jan

According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in February this year Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 96,549 units, decreasing by two percent year on year and up by 12.9 percent from January.

In February, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 48,821 units - down 12 percent, while small truck production amounted to 38,023 units - up seven percent, both compared to February 2012.

Meanwhile, in the first two months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 183,367 units, down two percent year on year. Passenger car output in the given period totaled 88,892 units decreasing by 10 percent year on year, while commercial vehicle production stood at 88,845 units, up 11 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2012.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in February this year was 74 percent, up compared to the 63 percent recorded in January. In the first two months of the year, the production capacity utilization rate was 70 percent.
