Turkey's motor vehicle output starts 2013 with decrease

According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in January this year Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 85,519 units, decreasing by three percent year on year and down by 3.4 percent from the month of December. In 2012, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 1,115,233 units, down 10 percent year on year.

In January, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 40,071 units - down 12 percent, its commercial vehicle production came to 42,438 units - up 10 percent, while small truck production amounted to 36,116 units - up six percent, all compared to January 2012.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in January this year was 63 percent, down compared to the 65 percent recorded in December last year.
