Turkish construction activity revives in Q1

According to data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first quarter of the current year the number of hours worked in construction in Turkey rose by 6.4 percent year on year. While the number of hours worked in civil engineering was up 6.3 percent year on year, the number of hours worked in construction of buildings rose by 6.4 percent.
 
Meanwhile, in the given period, employment in the domestic construction industry increased by 7.2 percent year on year. Employment in construction of buildings was up by 8.2 percent, while employment in civil engineering increased by 5.8 percent, compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
