Turkish mills have cut their local rebar prices in line with sluggish demand and lower ex-US scrap prices. Turkish official domestic dollar-based rebar offers in the Marmara region have settled at $600-605/mt ex-works today, June 9, down by $10/mt compared to June 4. In the Izmir region, one of the mills is offering rebar at TRY 32,600/mt ($589/mt) ex-works, unchanged in the local currency and down by $2/mt on US dollar basis. According to sources, the overall workable rebar prices for cash payment in the Marmara and Izmir regions are at around $585-600/mt ex-works, also down by $5-10/mt over the same period.
One of the main players in the Iskenderun region has decreased its official rebar price by TRY 250/mt ($7/mt) to TRY 33,000/mt ($596/mt) ex-works. Sources report that several Iskenderun-based rolling mills have set their rebar prices today, for serious buyers and cash payments, at TRY 32,600-32,800/mt ($589-593/mt) ex-warehouse, also down by TRY 100/mt ($3-4/mt) over the same period.
Currently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market in Turkey are in the range of TRY 32,300-33,100/mt ($584-598/mt) ex-warehouse, down by TRY 200-300/mt ($5-7/mt) against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations and sluggish demand.
