As of today, June 9, official wire rod prices in Turkey have mostly fallen by $5/mt over the past week, except in the Marmara region where wire rod prices are relatively firm. The main reasons are the downward trend in ex-US scrap prices, sluggish demand and the ongoing currency fluctuations. According to sources, one Iskenderun-based mill is reported to be testing a wire rod price of $605/mt ex-works, also down $5/mt over the same period, depending on the tonnage and payment terms.
According to sources, workable wire rod prices in Turkey are standing at $600-615/mt ex-works, also down by $5/mt on the lower end from a week ago.
