According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in June this year Turkey's stainless flat steel imports rose 22.7 percent compared to the previous month, increasing to 36,500 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $111.15 million, increasing by 27.48 percent as compared to May this year.
In June, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports from South Korea amounted to 7,917 metric tons, decreasing by 4.33 percent month on month and accounting for approximately 21.7 percent of Turkey's total stainless flat steel imports. Turkey's second biggest source of stainless flat steel imports in June was Taiwan with 7,199 metric tons, decreasing by 4.33 percent compared to May this year. Meanwhile, in the period in question Turkey's stainless flat steel imports from Finland increased 585 percent month on month amounting to 3,765 mt.
In the first half of this year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports amounted to 173,399 metric tons, increasing by 12.58 percent compared to the same period last year. Imports from Taiwan in January-June this year amounted to 40,874 metric tons, increasing by 1.86 percent compared to the same period last year. Imports from China in the first half of the year amounted to 11,340 mt, increasing by 53.84 compared to the same period last year.
